A Day at Rest

The composition employs a classic horizontal structure with the horizon positioned in the lower third, allowing the dramatic sky to dominate. A lone boat in the foreground provides scale and a focal anchor, whilst the sun setting behind distant mountains creates a natural centre of interest. The reflected light on the tidal flats draws the eye through the painting.
